Grameen Foundation | Combining the power of microfinance and technology to defeat global poverty.

About a year ago, Apoy dialed the wrong cell phone number and found himself talking to Sariyani. Even though the phone number was wrong, the conversation apparently felt right, because the two decided to meet, began dating and eventually got married!
The newlyweds struggled to make ends meet before the cell phone changed their lives once again. Apoy and Sariyani became clients of Ruma, a social enterprise that works with Grameen Foundation to develop mobile phone-based microfinanchise opportunities for Indonesia’s poor.
Today the happy couple is selling mobile phone airtime and supplementing their regular income by more than 50% each month – enough to save for the new baby on the way.
You can share this non-traditional love story and spread the love this Valentine’s Day by sending a free Grameen Foundation e-card! Show you care while spreading the word about how Grameen Foundation is helping people to climb out of poverty.
